Universal Comm Stick - Commutator Cleaner and Seater 4.75" x 0.5" x 0.25"

Commutator cleaning stick that is used to refresh the surface of the motor commutator in a washing machine before the carbon brushes are replaced.

This is a very fine abrasive stick which cleans the commutator segments without doing any harm to them, the use of other materials is highly likely to cause damage to the motor when cleaning. It is also designed to reach into the commutator whilst the motor is still in place in the washing machine saving the need to remove the motor in many cases where there is access.

Instructions For Use

Seating Brushes:
With machine running, press down hard on brush with an insulated tool and apply stone at the leading edge of the brush for several seconds allowing stone material to pass under the brush until the brush is fully seated.

Cleaning Commutator:
With the machine running, hold stone lightly against the commutator moving the stone slowly back and forth across the commutator face until any excess film has been removed. 

*For best results, remove any oil or grease from the commutator before applying the brush seater.
